The deck is attached to a light-colored house, with a partial view of the backyard featuring trees and other natural elements in the background. Sunlight casts shadows across the deck, highlighting the natural grain and color variation of the wood.

    Softwood & Hardwood Decks

    Softwood Decks

Softwood decks are made from coniferous trees like pine, cedar, and redwood. They are more affordable and easier to work with but require regular maintenance such as staining and sealing to protect against moisture, insects, and UV damage. Despite this, softwood decks offer a natural, rustic look and can last many years with proper care. Cedar and redwood are particularly popular for their natural resistance to decay and insects.

    Hardwood Decks

Hardwood decks are built from trees like oak, maple, teak, and ipe. These woods are dense, strong, and durable, making them resistant to wear and environmental damage. While more expensive and harder to work with, hardwood decks require less maintenance and can last for decades. They provide a luxurious, high-end appearance with rich, natural colors and grains. Ipe is especially valued for its exceptional durability and resistance to insects and rot.

    Composite & PVC Decks

A composite or PVC deck is an outdoor decking option made from a blend of materials designed to offer durability, low maintenance, and aesthetic appeal. Composite decking typically consists of a mixture of wood fibers and plastic, providing a natural wood-like appearance with enhanced weather resistance and reduced upkeep compared to traditional wood decks. PVC (polyvinyl chloride) decking is made entirely from plastic, offering superior resistance to moisture, insects, and rot, making it an excellent choice for areas with high humidity or exposure to water. Both composite and PVC decks come in various colors and textures, providing versatile design options for any outdoor space.

The deck extends along the side of a light-colored house, offering a view of a spacious backyard with trees, grass, and other homes in the background. The modern staircase and clean lines of the tile provide a contemporary look to the outdoor space.

    Stone & Tile Decks

Stone and tile decks offer a sophisticated, durable, and low-maintenance option for outdoor living spaces. These decks can be made from various materials, including natural stone like slate, granite, and travertine, or man-made tiles such as porcelain and ceramic. Stone and tile decks are highly resistant to weather, insects, and wear, making them ideal for areas with extreme climate conditions, like Golden, Colorado. They provide a wide range of design possibilities, with numerous colors, patterns, and textures available to create a unique and stylish outdoor space. While they can be more expensive and require precise installation, the longevity and elegance of stone and tile decks make them a worthwhile investment for enhancing your backyard.

    Aluminum Decking

Aluminum decking is a premium, low-maintenance decking option known for its exceptional durability and strength. Made from high-grade aluminum alloy, these decks are resistant to rust, rot, and insect damage, making them an ideal choice for areas with extreme weather conditions. Aluminum decking is also fire-resistant and slip-resistant, providing a safe and reliable surface for outdoor spaces. Available in a variety of colors and finishes, aluminum decking can mimic the look of wood or other materials while offering superior longevity. Its lightweight nature makes installation easier, and the built-in drainage systems found in many aluminum decking products help to keep the deck dry and free from standing water. With minimal maintenance required, aluminum decking is an excellent investment for those seeking a long-lasting, stylish, and functional outdoor space. It is the most expensive of the materials used for decks, except for maybe some exotic hardwoods. Usually aluminum decking comes with a lifetime warranty so if you want to invest in a high-quality deck and get a lot of life out of it, aluminum would be a great choice

    Answers to your questions

    • How much does a new deck cost?

The cost of constructing a new deck varies based on the design, project scope, and materials selected. Our typical deck projects start at approximately $15,000 to $20,000, with most falling between $30,000 and $80,000. However, larger and more elaborate projects can reach up to $200,000 or more.

    • Can you modify, repair or re-use any parts off my old deck?

In some cases, we can reuse materials from your current project. Several factors determine whether this is possible, with the condition of the material being the primary consideration. Additionally, the compatibility of the existing materials with new additions or repairs plays a crucial role.

    • Can we build a roof on your existing deck?

No, a roof cannot be added to an existing deck unless the deck was originally constructed to support the additional load. However, we can add a roof if we make the necessary structural improvements to ensure the deck frame can safely support the roof addition.

    • I would like to put a hot tub in my deck is that something you can do?

We can install hot tubs in both ground-level and elevated decks. However, due to the significant weight of hot tubs, substantial structural improvements to the deck are necessary. A hot tub can only be added without prior modifications if the deck was originally designed to support the additional weight. Otherwise, structural changes must be made beforehand to ensure safety and stability.

    • Can you paint my deck?

We understand that some people wish to paint their deck to match their house. However, painting a deck creates a moisture barrier that traps moisture. Even with a flawless paint job, cracks will eventually develop, allowing moisture to penetrate. This accelerates wood rot much faster than it would normally occur. Therefore, we have a policy against painting decks, as it is in the best interest of our customers to avoid this practice and ensure the longevity of their deck.

    • Are you able to bend a deck radius into my deck?

We offer composite board bending to create custom radius sections for your deck. If you're interested in incorporating one or more radius sections into your design, please inform your estimator during the consultation.
