what is a below deck dry system?

A below-deck dry system is a smart solution for making the space beneath your deck usable and protected from the elements. Simply put, it creates a watertight barrier under the deck, so rain and moisture don’t seep through. This keeps the area dry and ready for anything—whether you want to set up a cozy outdoor seating area, add storage, or create a play space for the kids.

    How does it work?

Below-deck dry systems use waterproof panels or membranes that are installed beneath the deck boards. These panels are angled to guide water into a drainage system, which carries it away from your home and deck foundation. Some systems even have built-in gutters for better water management. By preventing water buildup, these systems help protect your deck from damage and keep your outdoor space comfortable and dry all year round.

    Our Process

    1

Start by giving us a call to schedule a convenient date and time for your free estimate. At the appointed time, one of our experienced estimators will conduct a detailed inspection of your project. If you are seeking design or custom build services, your estimator will discuss those details with you as well.

After completing the inspection, your estimator will collaborate with our design team if necessary. They will then prepare a comprehensive estimate detailing the scope of work and the total projected cost for your project. Once finalized, the estimate will be sent to you.

    2

After we recieve your signed estimate, confirming your project. We will add your project to our schedule. Weather plays a big part in how our schedule ends up. Don't worry though because you will receive several days advance notice before your project is set to begin.

    3

Once the work outlined in the estimate is completed,  we will conduct a final inspection with you to ensure it meets our rigorous standards. Once the inspection is complete, we will give you the final invoice.  Then, you and your loved ones can enjoy your newly transformed backyard.

    • What is a below deck water collection system?

A below deck water collection system is designed to channel water away from the underside of your deck, creating a dry, usable space below. This system typically consists of drainage panels or troughs that collect rainwater and direct it to a gutter or downspout. It allows you to transform the area beneath your deck into a functional outdoor living or storage space.

    • How does a below deck water collection system benefit my outdoor space?

The system protects the area beneath your deck from rain, snow, and water runoff, making it ideal for dry storage, outdoor seating, or entertainment. It also helps prevent water damage to the deck frame and structure, extending the lifespan of your deck. Additionally, it can enhance the aesthetic appeal by covering the underside of your deck with a clean, finished look.

    • What types of decks are compatible with a water collection system?

Most decks—whether built with wood, composite, or metal frames—are compatible with a below deck water collection system. These systems can be installed on both new and existing decks, though existing decks may require slight modifications to accommodate the system.

    • Can a below deck water collection system be installed on my existing deck?

Yes, a below deck water collection system can be installed on most existing decks. Depending on your deck’s design and spacing, minor modifications may be needed, such as additional framing or adjustments to the joists. Our team will assess your deck and provide recommendations for the best fit.

    • How long does the installation process take?

Installation typically takes 2 to 5 days, depending on the deck size and complexity. For smaller decks or straightforward installations, it may only take a couple of days, while larger projects may require additional time for custom fittings and aesthetic finishes.

    • How effective is the system at keeping the space dry?

Our below deck water collection systems are highly effective at keeping the area below dry, even during heavy rainfall. The system channels water through a sealed drainage system that prevents leaks, ensuring that no water drips into the covered space.

    • Is the system resistant to harsh weather conditions?

Yes, our systems are built with weather-resistant materials designed to withstand extreme temperatures, heavy snow loads, and high winds. The materials are also resistant to rust, corrosion, and UV damage, ensuring long-term durability.

    • How do I maintain the water collection system?

Maintenance is minimal and typically involves clearing debris from the drainage panels and inspecting the system for any signs of clogging or damage once or twice a year. In most cases, the system’s design prevents large debris buildup, so you won’t need frequent maintenance.

    • Can the system handle heavy rainfall or snowmelt?

Yes, our systems are designed to handle large amounts of water, including heavy rainstorms and significant snowmelt. The system includes overflow channels and properly sized gutters to ensure water is quickly directed away, preventing pooling or overflows.

    • Can I use the dry space for storage?

Definitely! The dry area is perfect for storing outdoor furniture, firewood, tools, or recreational equipment. Since the space is protected from water and weather, your stored items will remain dry and in great condition.

    • How much does a below deck water collection system cost?

The cost can vary based on the size of your deck, the materials used, and any customizations you choose. On average, below deck water collection systems cost between $15 to $30 per square foot, though premium finishes and features may increase the price. We provide detailed estimates to ensure transparency.

    • Does installing a water collection system increase my property value?

Yes! Creating a dry, finished space beneath your deck can significantly enhance your home’s functionality and curb appeal. This added living or storage space is a valuable selling point, making your property more attractive to potential buyers.
